At just over twenty years old, Logan February has been weaving a body of work that explores desire, eroticism, queer identity, grief, homophobia, and mental illness: themes that, while explored by many authors, are reimagined in their poetics from a new perspective, revealing unexpected depths and nuances. Intense and distinctive, this nonbinary poet's writing is composed with one ear attuned to the lyric tradition, and the boldness and irreverence necessary to create their own universe born from a continuous exercise in introspection that is equally capable of challenging us with its piercing beauty. Between raw honesty, sardonic laughter, and verses that overflow with tenderness and luminosity, their poems are self-portraits or sharp dissections of the self and the other that unfold against the backdrop of a Nigeria where contemporaneity, Christianity, and Yoruba culture converge, appearing in fragments of myths and proverbs. This anthology, one of the first ventures in translation using inclusive language, gathers pieces from all of February's books and offers us a journey through the work of one of the most exceptional young voices on the current poetry scene.
